Why to visit this country!
Frankfurt: What to see, where to go?
Frankfurt am Main is the fifth largest city in Germany. It is a modern city that is a bit reminiscent of Manhattan, as it has too many skyscrapers – in fact, new ones are constantly being added.Â
Dynamic and sophisticated, Frankfurt is a fascinating mix of contrasts. On the one hand, the “Mainhattan” of state-of-the-art glass skyscrapers reflected in the waters of the Main, the “Bankfurt” of myriad powerful banking institutions, the host of famous exhibition events such as the International Motor Show and the Book Fair. On the other hand, the birthplace of Goethe with its beautiful medieval center, the bohemian district of Sachsenhausen with its winding alleys and Apfelwein bars, the city of 60 museums, impressive city parks and the multicultural coexistence of dozens of nationalities.
Cologne, a costumed “Lady”!Â
Although with a rich collection of attractions, there are two strong cards in Cologne: The carnival and its famous Cathedral.
The carnival takes place during the “Fifth Season”, as the locals call it, i.e. the period from the first days of each year (usually January 6th) until the first Wednesday of Lent.
Of course, the beginning of the carnival season is officially November 11th at 11:11 a.m. These are days full of wild feasts, plenty of drinks and non-stop dancing! In short, an endless spree! It’s worth dressing up yourself and taking part in one of the best carnivals in the world, holding a local Kölsch beer for good!
The second strong card of the city is its Cathedral, the huge Dom (Kölner Dom), a Gothic masterpiece that took several centuries to complete!
Visit Nuremberg’s Christmas market!Â
If you visit the city in winter you are particularly lucky because you will be able to visit the famous Christmas market.
The fairytale (and very likely snowy) Nuremberg awaits you to show you around one of the most beautiful Christmas markets in Germany! So if you want to experience the magic of Christmas to the fullest, Nuremberg is the place to be!
In the market located in the largest square of the city, the Hauptmarkt, you will see everything your heart craves: Stalls with handmade toys, jewelry, clothes, home decorations, Christmas items and, of course, countless food canteens from all corners of the world. Hot dogs, however, have their honor! To feel part of the market you should hold in one hand a spicy hot dog with Sauerkraut (sauerkraut) and in the other a Glühwein to warm your “insides”!
